Louvre closed due to coronavirus

The Paris Louvre closed on March 1 indefinitely due to concerns about the spread of coronavirus, the museum said on its Facebook page.

Museum trade union representative Andre Sacristin, in an interview with the Associated Press, said that the risk of contracting a new coronavirus infection for Louvre workers is very high, since the public comes to the museum from all over the world.

The day before, the French government decided to temporarily ban all indoor public events in the country with the participation of more than five thousand people.

In France, there are 100 identified cases of COVID-19. In total, the coronavirus, the outbreak of which occurred in December 2019 in the Chinese city of Wuhan, has spread to 60 countries. More than 87 thousand people fell ill around the world. About three thousand died.
