In the Kaliningrad region, local residents are asking not to destroy the hangars of the ancient German airfield Novitif. On March 1, activists held a flash mob so that local authorities would pay attention to the problem. This was reported by the correspondent of the Sever. Real.
More than 40 people stood against the backdrop of a partially disassembled building and deployed a poster: "Governor, save the hangars."
“We wrote an appeal to the governor“ Governor, Save the Angara, ”said the local activist Sergei Dustin.“ Well, who else is we to appeal to the president? I have no doubt that the governor will hear, but perhaps it will take note. We have already lost one hangar irrevocably, but we want to stop the process so that the rest do not saw. ”
Dustin recalled that thanks to ancient hangars, local residents earn on tourists: "Someone sells bread with sausage to tourists, someone-rents bicycles. There are no other development options. Tourists are carrying money and work."
Wed to Yandex.Zen CR on Instagram SR in TelegramThe analysis of the first hangar of the airfield began last week. Now one of the old metal hangars of the airfield is partially dismantled. Residents began collecting signatures against the demolition of the hangars. Over 1300 people have already signed a petition to the governor.
The airfield was built in 1936-1939 for the needs of the Luftwaffe. The Soviet Union enjoyed the Novitif airfield for almost 50 years - from 1948 to 1995. The military unit was located here. In the first hangar, cars were located that supplied fuel aircraft. It was also a repair workshop.
Activists consider the hangars of the "Novitif" airfield by historical heritage, although they are officially not recognized as such. First, the buildings belonged to the Ministry of Defense, but later they were bought by a private trader. In 2018, the hangars tried to assign the status of an object of cultural heritage, but officials refused to do this. Last year, the owner began the analysis of one of the hangars, but after the public resonance, work was stopped.
