The court refused compensation to Sergei Abanichev for prosecution in the “Moscow case”

The Tverskoy District Court refused to award compensation for unlawful prosecution of 25-year-old former person involved in the Moscow case, Sergei Abanichev. This was reported by the head of the international human rights group "Agora" Pavel Chikov.

Abanichev demanded to recover 500 thousand rubles as compensation for moral damage. According to Agora's lawyer Svetlana Sidorkina, there is no reasoning part of the court's decision yet.

According to investigators, on July 27, 2019, Abanichev threw a tin can at a police officer. He himself claimed that he had a paper cup from Burger King in his hands, which he threw “away from himself backwards”, and in the center of Moscow on the day of the action he happened to be accidental. In September, the case under the article on "mass riots" against him was dropped. During the investigation - a month - he spent in a pre-trial detention center.
