The territorial election commission of the Karelian city of Sortavala approved the results of the elections to the City Council, which took place last Sunday, March 1. However, a member of the TIC with a decisive vote from the Fair Russia party Elena Vasnovskaya refused to sign a final protocol.
As the chairman of the Council of the Regional Branch of "Fair Russia" Royne Izumov told the correspondent of the Sever. Real, the party refused to recognize the results of the vote due to numerous complaints of violations of the electoral legislation, which were rejected by the TIC actually without explanation.
According to the coordinator of the United Staff of the public observers of Oleg Reut, the sortavals were massive in election to the city council. In particular, in two of the ten polling stations, testing of electoral processing complexes was held with serious violations, which the election commission "simply did not notice or did not want to notice." Candidates were forced to write applications with a request to conduct a manual counting of votes. Observers also drew attention to the discrepancies between the total number of ballots, which were transferred from the territorial election commission to the district commission for voting, and the number of ballots in the final protocols of these commissions. They also recorded attempts by some precinct commissions to correct the numbers in the protocols.
“The level of confidence in the territorial election commission of the Sortavali is at an prohibitively low level,” the coordinator of the Joint Staff of Public Observers stated. “This is especially disturbing the day before holding the All -Russian vote to the constitution, since the same election commission that held elections to the City Council will organize it in Sortaval.”

Through 14 of them were nominated by the "United Russia" and "Fair Russia" parties, 12 - the LDPR, three - the Communist Party, in addition, two self -nominates participated in the elections. According to the results of the vote approved by the territorial election commission, candidates from United Russia will receive 12 seats in the new deputy corps. One mandate will go to the Communists, and the remaining two - self -nominated.
