In the Arkhangelsk region, Judge Natalya Minina of the Vilegodsky District Court ordered Shies eco-activists to vacate a forest plot they allegedly occupied without permission. This was reported in the group “We are against a landfill in the Lensky district” on VKontakte.
The regional Ministry of Natural Resources appealed to the court with a demand to vacate the site “by demolishing a wooden shed built from imported building materials”. Officials considered the wooden structure as an object of capital construction.
The defendants were environmental activists Vyacheslav Buikevich, Vladimir Lutsyk and Alexander Novozhilov. In court, they drew attention to the fact that the wooden canopy is not "capital", but it is used "for the purpose of temporary protection of citizens from bad weather."
In addition, the defendants referred to the provisions of the forestry, land and urban planning legislation, according to which permission is not required for the construction of temporary non-capital protective structures.
The defendants also drew attention to the lack of evidence that they were the ones who built the shed. Officials submitted to the court only a video recording of several citizens, including Buikevich, Lutsyk and Novozhilov, nailing one bar to the racks. The defendants dismantled this bar.
