The court extended the arrest of activist Daria Polyudova

The Meshchansky District Court extended the arrest of the leader of the “Left Resistance” Daria Polyudova until June 13. After the meeting, the bailiffs detained one of the listeners, Kirill Kotov. Listener Elena Sannikova reported this to the OVD-Info hotline:

People were already leaving the courthouse, but the bailiffs began to put pressure on them to leave quickly, and among them were disabled people - Viktor Kapitonov, Vera Lavreshina. And he [Kotov] began to tell them to stop pushing people, and then they grabbed and harshly detained [Kotov]: they threw him on his back, kicked him so that he would lie down this way and not that way, handcuffed behind his back

After the arrest, the listeners were kicked out of the courthouse. The police arrived at the court.

21:48 Kirill Kotov was released from the Meshchansky police station with a report under the article on petty hooliganism (Part 1 of Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code). A friend of the detainee reported this to the legal bot.

May 14. The Moscow City Court upheld the arrest of activist Daria Polyudova. Today the court rejected the appeal against the decision of the Meshchansky Court, Kirill Kotov reported to OVD-Info, citing Polyudova’s lawyer. The activist will remain in jail. Polyudova participated in the court hearing via video conferencing.

• On January 23, 2020, Daria Polyudova was charged with “calls for separatism” (Part 1 of Article 280.1 of the Criminal Code) and “justification of terrorism” (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code).
• According to the lawyer, the case materials say that Polyudova, “acting for separatist purposes,” on January 31, 2019, stood with a poster with the inscription “Kuril Islands, stop feeding Moscow. Long live the Far Eastern Republic" and "according to linguistic experts, called for a referendum on secession from the Russian Federation."
• On the morning of January 15, Daria Polyudova and Gradus TV journalist Olga Sapronova were searched , during which both women were detained. The security forces did not allow lawyer from OVD-Info Yulia Sycheva to see Polyudova. Sapronova was released after interrogation in the FSB building, forcing her lawyer to sign a non-disclosure agreement. The next day, Polyudova was placed in a pre-trial detention center as a suspect.
• In 2014–2015, Polyudova was accused of calling for extremism and separatism. Then she was sentenced to two years in a penal colony.
