On March 3, the State “Yakut Republican Veterinary Laboratory Laboratory” conducted a virological study during “planned, annual measures for monitoring studies for rabies, as part of the execution of state assignment”. At least this is approved on the website of the regional department of veterinary medicine. On March 4, it was decided to close the oven for two -month quarantine and observe the animals that live in it for 10 days. All this was officially explained by the fact that in the republic a traditionally dysfunctional epidemiological situation in rabies.
Five days after the start of quarantine, on March 9, the zoo defenders penetrated the oven and found that cells with animals were empty, and in a large container, the corpses of animals were dumped on the territory of the point. In total, 153 dogs and 48 cats were found dead. The official explanation of the Department: “Since the sick animal was directly in contact with other animals, ... [animals] were applied to euthanasia for two days by veterinary specialists of the Veterinary Office of the city of Yakutsk in the presence of workers of the overexposure point [...] by eutherence - by introducing intramuscular injections.”
On social networks and the media there were photos and videos - piles of dog corpses. There was blood on one of the dogs, rumors appeared that animals were cut. But this was refuted by the zoo defenders themselves.
People began to write on social networks that death is more than 200 animals is cruel, and such a massacre was not at all necessary.

The first in the death of animals, the inhabitants of Yakutsk accused the mayor of the city Sardan Avksentiev. She often spoke about the problem of stray animals in her speeches. Avksentieva wrote in response to this in her social networks, which was not involved in the decision of mass euthanasia.
Where did this rabies come from? In Yakutsk, they say that at the end of February, in the area of the construction district, a dog was caught, in which a deadly virus was detected. The Department of Veterinary medicine was explained to reporters that the animal had all the signs of the disease. Aggressiveness, abundant salivation, photophobia. And therefore, the commission decided to put it aside. After death, tests were made, which confirmed the presence of the disease. After that, quarantine was officially announced on the territory of the oven.
Under federal legislation, it is strictly prohibited to kill animals. Even aggressive individuals are supposed to be kept in a shelter for life. However, the laws do not spell out the moment with rabies.
Veterinarians on this score are guided by veterinary and sanitary rules, where measures for euthanasia (euthanasia) of all animals contacting the diseases are used as a prevention of the spread of the disease.
In Yakutsk, the rabies virus was officially registered twice: in 2011, a neglected dog, in 2012 - from a fox that hunters allegedly obtained in the vicinity of the city. On his official website, the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Republic writes that two containers were placed on the territory of the overexposure point. In one container were the corpses of dogs collected in the city and prepared for disposal, in the second - the corpses of 153 dogs and 48 cats that had contact with a frantic dog. The veterinarians held euthanasia on March 7 and 8.
The prosecutor's office organized a check whether there was a mass reinforcement of dogs and cats. Sardan Aksentieva also intends to conduct an independent check. The verification can also be carried out in relation to the zoo defenders, who, according to state veterinarians, violated the conditions of quarantine and penetrated the oven.

But what is important in this situation. In 2012, immediately after the arrival of the new mayor, Iceen Nikolaev, near Yakutsk, the hunter shot a frantic wolf, after which a state of emergency was introduced in the city, and all the ownerless dogs were interrupted.
Yakutsk Evening conducted its own investigation. And it turned out that such a hunter does not exist in nature - it was a fake of pure water.
Therefore, the current furious dog raises many questions. Yakutsk zoo defenders generally doubt that rabies was really discovered.
“There is no document that confirms this fact, it has not yet been made public. If the authorities are given it now, there will be no confidence in this document either, because the whole week has already passed, ”says Marina Santaeva, creator of the White Bim animal protection fund. - We do not know what kind of dog that has been revealed by rabies. Is it a male or a bitch, how many years she was, how she behaved, she was a big or small, did she die or was she killed? We do not know anything of this. It was reported that she was caught in the construction district. Why was it not quarantine, why was it placed at the oven? The rabies virus is detected in the brain, that is, the dog should die, it should cut off the head, remove the brain and examine it. But [the department said] that the rabies virus was found in one of three virological samples. What is this sample? Did they kill three dogs or three dogs fell from rabies? We have a lot of questions. ”
According to Santaeva, the benefit in statements about rabies is obvious to the authorities: this is the development of money for vaccines (if you declare a flash of rabies, the owners will go to vaccinate their pets) and the liberation of a place for new homeless animals. To the speed with which the euthanasia took place, the zoo defender also has questions.
“If they worked 8 hours a day, then for every animal, we counted, it took, roughly speaking, five minutes. This is the conveyor of death, ”Santaeva is horrified.
To this rate of destruction of dogs and cats of questions, no matter how cynically it sounds, the veterinarian Alexander Vasiliev argues in absentia in absentia in absentia. The problem is different: it turns out that all animals in overexposure were not vaccinated, they were originally doomed to death in the event of an outbreak of some disease. “Animals should be on quarantine. Quarantine is isolation, but in special conditions. There should be a system of ventilation, water supply, good cells that allow animals to feed, drink, take care of them, excluding complete contact with a person. I do not believe that in the municipal shelter, such conditions could be created [to sufficient volume], the specialist believes. -Probably, the doctors, seeing that some animal was bitten, sent tests to the laboratory, confirmed rabies. And it turned out that it was easier to eliminate the shelter than to carry out measures to prevent distribution. ”
On March 10, in Yakutsk, a rally of memory of the dead animals was held. People gathered in the city center, near the monument to a homeless dog, to ask for forgiveness from animals, lit candles and put toys.
Now at the point of overexposure of stray animals in Yakutsk there are 71 dogs.
