The defendants in the second Simferopol case of Hizb ut-Tahrir have their detention in pre-trial detention center extended

At three meetings of the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog on March 10, the detention period was extended for seven defendants in the second Simferopol Hizb ut-Tahrir case. It is reported by "Crimea. Realii” with reference to the lawyer Rustem Kyalev.

Seyran Murtaza, Asan Yanikov, Alim Karimov, Akim Bekirov, Izet Abdullayev, Seitveli Seitabdiev and Ruslan Suleymanov will remain in the pre-trial detention center until March 27.

“Most of today's court hearings were held in a closed format at the request of the investigator. That is, absolutely standard "copy-paste" formulations that some information from the materials of the criminal case may be disclosed. Actually, all the petitions of the defense were rejected, including the petition of Izzet Abdullayev, in which he expressed a desire to get acquainted with the case materials together with his lawyer, that is, with me, ”the lawyer told the publication.

According to Rustem Kyalev, the defendants feel well. “They, of course, complain about bedbugs, cockroaches and all the living creatures that are present in their cells. But in general, no one has any complaints about the state of health, ”the lawyer added.

• Most of the defendants in the second Simferopol Hizb ut-Tahrir case were detained in March 2019. Almost all of them are kept in various pre-trial detention centers in the Rostov region.
• On June 18, the North Caucasian Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced five defendants in the first Hizb ut-Tahrir case in Simferopol to prison terms ranging from 12 to 17 years.
• Hizb ut-Tahrir is recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia. In this regard, criminal cases are initiated in different regions of the country, while the defendants are sentenced to various terms in a strict regime colony only on the basis that they met in apartments, read religious literature and spread their ideas.
  According to a number of experts, Hizb ut-Tahrir was unlawfully recognized as a terrorist organization, since its members in Russia did not prepare or carry out terrorist acts.
