On March 10, at a meeting of the State Duma, President Vladimir Putin said that he supported the abundance of his own presidential terms, if the Constitutional Court agrees to this. At the same time, he spoke out against the exclusion from the Constitution restrictions on the number of presidential terms.

In January, Putin announced the need for amendments to the Constitution, which redistribute the powers between branches of power. Observers noted that the president is probably looking for a way to maintain power after the end of his powers.
