In the center of Kazan, during a single picket against the construction of a waste incineration plant, an activist, the head of the "Councils of Public Self-Organization of the Republic of Tatarstan" Ravil Mukhametzyanov, was detained. This is reported by the publication “Idel. Realities".
According to Idel. Realities”, Mukhametzyanova stood with a poster “MSZ is genocide for Kazan citizens” near the shopping center “Koltso”. Police officers approached him and, under the pretext of searching for a man who looked like Mukhametzyanov, took him to the police department in the same shopping center.
After some time, Mukhametzyanov was released, no protocol was drawn up against him. The activist plans to appeal the actions of the police.
- On December 16, 2019, were detained 19 opponents of the construction of a waste incineration plant in the village of Osinovo near Kazan. According to the security forces, the environmental camp, which was set up by the activists, interfered with the free movement of construction equipment and the organization of construction work. Protocols were drawn up against the detainees under part 1 of article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses and under part 2 of article 20.2.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. Rushan Kabirov, a journalist with the Rosderzhava publication, was found not guilty in court under the article on failure to comply with the demands of the police, but in the second case he, like the rest of the detainees, was fined 10,000 rubles.
- In the Zelenodolsk region of Tatarstan, in the village of Osinovo, it is planned to build a waste incineration plant and a waste disposal site. This is opposed by local residents who are ready to set up a duty camp called Shies-2. It is planned to utilize up to 50% of all municipal solid waste in Kazan at the waste incineration plant.
