Edward Limonov died

The writer and leader of the National Bolshevik Party (NBP), Eduard Limonov, died, said State Duma deputy Sergei Shargunov. He was 77 years old.

Information about his death was confirmed in the unregistered party "Other Russia", which Limonov headed after the ban on the NBP in 2007.

The causes of death are not specified. According to Mash , Limonov "for a long time fought on oncology." According to the telegram channel, two days ago he went to the hospital due to bleeding. “Doctors tried to normalize the condition for two days, today they appointed two operations. But Limonov’s body did not suffer the load, ”writes Mash .

Later, “Other Russia” specified that “the official cause of death is oncology”. “The funeral of Eduard Limonov will be closed to the general public and the media. That was his last desire, ”the party added.

In 2001, a criminal case on illegal storage of weapons was opened against Limonov (Article 222 of the Criminal Code), terrorism (Article 205 of the Criminal Code) and calls for the overthrow of the constitutional system (280 of the Criminal Code). He, along with his associates, was detained in the Altai Territory and taken to Moscow, where he was sent to the Lefortovo pre -trial detention center. The materials of the case mentioned the seized Kalashnikov assault rifles and a politician in the party newspaper Limonka about Northern Kazakhstan.

A year later, Limonov was transported to Saratov, where the court began. The leader of the NBP was sentenced to four years in prison, having removed the accusations of terrorism and calls for the overthrow of the system. A few months after the verdict, Limonov went out on parole.
