Angela Merkel went into quarantine

German Chancellor Angela Merkel goes into home quarantine. According to the German cabinet, Merkel made this decision after a doctor who gave her a preventive vaccination the other day was diagnosed with a coronavirus infection.

The chancellor learned about this immediately after a press conference on March 22, during which she announced the tightening of quarantine measures in Germany. In particular, in the next two weeks, citizens of the country were forbidden to gather more than two at a time.

While in self-isolation, Merkel intends to continue to fulfill her official duties.

Germany is currently among the top five countries most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Nearly 24,000 people have been infected in the country, with 92 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
