A court in Tatarstan fined VKontakte users for old publications with Hitler

The Sarmanovsky District Court of Tatarstan fined 22-year-olds Ainur Gazizullin and Radik Fatikhov 1,000 rubles under an article about the demonstration of Nazi symbols for the old publication of the video “Adolf Hitler raps” on VKontakte. This is reported by the publication “Idel. Realii” with reference to the website of the court.

Ainur Gazizullin posted on VKontakte in August 2013, and Radik Fatikhov in May 2010. The video showed Adolf Hitler in a Nazi uniform with a swastika. They were charged under the article on propaganda or public display of Nazi symbols (part 1 of article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and were awarded 1,000 rubles each.

Gazizullin pleaded guilty, Fatikhov said that he posted the video at the age of 12 and did not know that he had violated the law.

• The State Duma in November 2019 adopted an amendment to the law on liability for the display of Nazi symbols. In particular, it states that a demonstration is not punishable when it is not propaganda or does not justify the crimes of Nazi Germany.
• In December 2019, the Supreme Court of North Ossetia canceled the fine for publishing an excerpt from the film Schindler's List. In Anapa, the court considered Nazi propaganda a video depicting a procession of SS troops, which a schoolboy posted on VKontakte while preparing an essay.
