The Novosibirsk governor asked residents not to leave their homes

Novosibirsk Governor Andrey Travnikov recorded a video message to the residents. He urged the elderly not to leave their homes.

“Older people are at risk for the incidence of a new infection from coronavirus. And the older the person, the higher the risk of the disease. Therefore, the operational headquarters of the Novosibirsk Region appeals to older people, to those who have chronic diseases, first of all, to comply with the quarantine regime, Travnikov said (the appeal was published by the Novosibirsk State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company on youtube ) . “If possible, completely exclude visiting any public places, stay at home or in the country.”

“I call on our senior relatives, veterans, and acquaintances to provide them with all kinds of assistance, including helping them buy food, essentials, medicines so that our elderly people do not have to leave the apartment,” the head of the region added.

In his address, the governor also mentions the All-Russian People's Front and United Russia, claiming that they organized "work to attract volunteers." The official, we recall, heads the ER regional department.

Four cases of coronavirus infection have been officially confirmed in the Novosibirsk region.

At the end of December 2019, the Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization about an outbreak of pneumonia in Wuhan, a large commercial and industrial center with a population of more than 11 million people. The causative agent of the disease was identified only on January 7, 2020 - this is a previously unknown type of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus (the disease it causes was called COVID-19).

In the world, according to the latest data, about 380 thousand cases, more than 16.5 thousand people died. The epidemic affected 163 countries and territories. The main number of deaths was in China (3.2 thousand people), but Italy is already leading by this indicator (6 thousand). A significant number of deaths were also recorded in Spain and Iran: 2.3 thousand and 1.8 thousand, respectively. More than 100,000 people have recovered worldwide.

In Russia, 438 cases of infection have been officially registered. 14 of them are in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Khakassia, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo and Tomsk Regions.
