Kamchatka: Kurils go tsunami

460 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky occurred a powerful earthquake, the regional government of the Ministry of Emergencies reports . According to scientists, the appearance of tsunami is possible.

"According to available information, the consequence of the earthquake will become the tsunami, the wave will reach the Kuril Islands. According to preliminary data, the approximate time of the Tsunami wave - 15.04 (7.04 Moscow time)," the regional department of the Ministry of Emergencies said.

In North-Kurilsk, there is an evacuation of the local population to elevated places. In particular, they take out children from schools and kindergartens. In total, 400 people are evacuated.

According to the regional government, the height of the tsunami wave will reach no more than 15 centimeters. Local residents are asked not to panic. There were no victims as a result of the earthquake, rescuers began to examine the buildings on the islands. There is data on damage to power lines and destruction of heating furnaces in several houses.
