Russian President Vladimir Putin, during an address to citizens, declared the week of March 30 a non-working week due to the coronavirus.
People's wages will be maintained. The long weekend is intended to reduce the spread of the disease, the president noted. “You shouldn’t rely on our Russian maybe, this (coronavirus - TD’s note) can affect everyone,” Putin said.
The President noted that all life support structures, including transport, government agencies, and medicine, will continue to operate.
Putin also spoke on the topic of registration of sick leave. “Currently, sick leave depends on length of service and salary; as a result, employees, especially young ones, may receive low sick leave payments,” the president noted and instructed to ensure that the amount of sick leave is not less than the minimum wage until the end of the year.
