Pskov: The election of the head of the district will not be transferred due to coronavirus

The chairman of the Pskov Regional Assembly of Deputies, Alexander Kotov, at the parliamentary hour, which discussed the situation with the coronavirus in the region, announced that the choice of the head of the Pechora region appointed on April 5 would not be transferred, the correspondent of the North Realia said.

"We have not been introduced by the state of emergency, so all federal laws are in force. Elections in the Pechora district are held in accordance with federal law, any transfer to a later term will contradict federal legislation. The scheduled date remains in force and the elections will be held," Kotov said.

Article 11 of the Electoral Code of the Pskov Region states that early elections should be held no later than six months from the date of early termination of powers of the previous chapter. He was Dmitry Sopotov, who announced his resignation on November 14, 2019, after a video appeared on the Internet, where he was obscenely insulting police officers for stopping his acquaintance. The police suggested that he was driving in a state of intoxication.

In November 2019, a meeting of deputies of the Pechora district adopted the resignation of Sopotov. On January 13, the election commission of the Pechora district appointed early elections of the new chapter on April 5, 2020.

As follows from the data of the election commission of the Pskov region, in the Pechorsky district as of January 1, 2020, 16 thousand 168 voters were registered. In total, 19,376 people lived in the municipality in 2019.

Over the past day, 182 cases of coronavirus in 18 regions have been registered in Russia, two of them in the Pskov region. In total, six people are infected in the region. The region has a high readiness mode. All mass events are prohibited.

In Russia, on March 26, 840 cases of coronavirus infection in 56 regions were registered.
