Karelia: Due to coronavirus, travel in public transport was banned

Governor of Karelia Arthur Parfyonchikov announced the introduction of hard quarantine in the republic until April 5. He reported this in his appeal.

In Karelia, all shopping centers, cafes, restaurants, bars, places of leisure and rest, and tourist facilities will be closed. The exception is stores that provide people with products and essential goods, pharmacies and gas stations.

“We make an unprecedented decision to suspend public transport, except for a taxi, starting from March 29 to April 4,” the governor added.

Some workers will be delivered by transport, but Parfyonchikov did not specify who exactly falls into this category.

For the elderly older than 60 years, a special service time was allocated in stores - from 09:00 to 11:00.

Kindergartens will be closed. Parents who do not have the opportunity to leave the child will provide holidays at work.

Parfyonchikov said that they came to the republic from abroad, so the republic may be in an unsafe situation. He noticed that most of the arrivals, "showing irresponsibility", do not proceed to the regime of self -isolation and do not report their arrival at the Ministry of Health.

“We will establish everyone who came. And take measures to isolate them and, if necessary, in the forced observation of citizens. I would like to contact fellow countrymen. Go voluntarily to the self -insulation regime, inform about your whereabouts. You will not communicate with doctors, you will communicate with law enforcement agencies,” he said.

In Karelia, not a single confirmed case of coronavirus was found. Over the past day, 196 cases of coronavirus infection in 17 regions have been confirmed in Russia. In total, 1036 cases are registered. For the entire period, 45 people were discharged by recovery.
