British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, infected with COVID-19, was transferred to the intensive care unit

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been transferred to the intensive care unit due to the aggravation of COVID-19. Due to illness, Foreign Minister Dominic Raab will temporarily take over part of his duties, the press service of the country's government told reporters.

“In the afternoon, the prime minister’s condition worsened, after which, on the recommendation of doctors, it was decided to transfer him to the intensive care unit,” his spokesman said. “He receives the highest level of medical care and thanks all the doctors for their work and dedication.”

Johnson, 55, has been in St Thomas' Hospital in central London since last night. Johnson announced on March 27 that he had contracted the coronavirus. Government officials told the media that shortly thereafter, during video conferences, he had frequent coughing fits. He himself also complained of unrelenting fever. Despite this, on the evening of April 2, he left the residence on Downing Street to applaud the doctors along with the rest of the city.
