In Prikamye, a priest flew around his city in a balloon with an icon of the Mother of God. During this, he prayed for deliverance from the coronavirus, according to KungurTV.
Cleric Maksim Kaigorodov made a kind of "procession" by putting on personal protective equipment, a mask and gloves. He explained that he took the icon with him in order to “give the city under the protection of the Mother of God”, because it is first of all turned to in difficult times: in the city of Kungur in the Perm Territory, one case of infection with a coronavirus infection was detected.
A similar action took place in the Vladivostok diocese. Local priests, with a prayer for salvation from COVID-19, bypassed the sea area of the capital of the Far East on a boat. Prior to this, Patriarch Kirill with the icon of the Mother of God "Tenderness" traveled around Moscow in his car. The Orthodox channels “Spas” and “Soyuz” called on to pray together with the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, which showed the cortege live for two hours.
At the end of March, the patriarch urged believers to refrain from visiting churches amid the spread of coronavirus infection in Russia. The Patriarchate also sent advice to parishes on maintaining sanitary standards during worship, but despite precautions, several Orthodox priests from Moscow contracted COVID-19.
