RT spoke about the administrative case against the “Police Ombudsman” for a post about coronavirus; the Ministry of Internal Affairs replied that they did not know about him

As Anastasia Burakova, lawyer for Human Rights Postcard, told Mediazona, the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Central District of St. Petersburg told her that they knew nothing about such a case.

The day before, RT published a photo of the ruling, which states that a case has been opened against Vorontsov under Part 9 of Article 13.15 of the Administrative Code. Vorontsov himself said that he learned about this from an RT publication. The case, the TV channel claimed, was opened by the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Central District of St. Petersburg, so today Burakova went there.

“What they told me there: firstly, they are in quarantine, so they don’t accept people in person. Secondly, the duty officer said that they don’t seem to have any information about such a case and about such a citizen, everything is just speculation. I showed an article on RT with a screenshot of the decision to initiate an administrative violation case against Vorontsov. At first, the employee told me that this could not happen, this is confidential information about the administrative investigation, it cannot be published anywhere. Actually, after that they made a surprised face,” the lawyer said.

Burakova adds that she was advised to contact the department for the execution of administrative legislation. The defender arrived there, but the department was closed for quarantine: “All the doors are closed, the phones are not answered. In general, it’s completely deaf and empty there.”

Burakova has not yet been able to find out whether an administrative case has really been opened against Vorontsov; she will send a written request to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
