A criminal case was opened in the Leningrad region due to an outbreak of coronavirus in a hostel for migrants

The Directorate of the Investigative Committee for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region opened a criminal case due to coronavirus infection of 35 migrants in an illegal hostel, reports . Interfax

The department reported that on April 10, after an inspection by Rospotrebnadzor, several residents of a house in the village of Novosergievka were required to observe quarantine. In addition, the legal entity renting the building was given an order to organize sanitary and epidemiological measures. However, the legal entity’s employees did not comply with the requirements of Rospotrebnadzor, the Investigative Committee explained.

A criminal case was opened under Part 1 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code (violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules, which through negligence resulted in mass disease or created a threat of such consequences).

According to the press service of the government of the Leningrad region, there are about 500 migrants in the hostel. A tent hospital has been opened in the building; medical care will be provided to residents by doctors from the Vsevolozhsk Hospital, the regional administration added.
