At a meeting on economic issues, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the fall in demand the most negative economic consequence of the pandemic, writes TASS. He noted a decrease in retail trade in the country by 35%.

“The most sensitive problem is for companies - both with us and other countries - this is a reduction in demand. So, the volume of retail trade, retail sales in Russia in April decreased by more than 35%. This indicates how sharply, the market was almost simultaneously tightened. And for many enterprises, this is a really strong shock. ”
The President noted a decrease in electricity consumption by 5% since the beginning of April and a reduction in both corporate and mortgage lending.
