Head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov signed a decree on restricting entry into the territory of the republic. This was reported on the official website of the government of Karelia.
From April 22, entry into the republic from neighboring regions will be carried out through five checkpoints on different routes. Other routes will be closed to traffic. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Guard will control the entrance.
The policemen are also entrusted with control over the entrance to Karelia by rail. They will issue warnings to passengers about liability for violating the high alert regime.
The restrictions will remain in effect until the high alert is lifted.
Checkpoints will be organized: at km 155 of the A-121 Sortavala highway; at km 270 of the R-21 "Kola" highway; at km 45 of the highway A-215 Lodeynoye Pole - Vytegra - Prokshino - Brin-Navolok, entrance to the city of Petrozavodsk; at km 394 of the A-119 Vologda - Medvezhyegorsk highway - the R-21 "Kola" highway; at km 354 of the Dolmatovo-Nyandoma-Kargopol-Pudozh highway.
