The Central Bank allowed the use of expired cards until July 1

Cards with an expired shelf life can be used without re-release until July 1, said the chairman of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina at an online conference. This decision should contribute to the self -isolation of the population.

• Prior to this, banks independently extended the validity of the expired cards: VTB allowed until April 30, Alfa-Bank-until May 31, Tinkoff, Promsvyazbank and Russian Standard-until the normalization of the epidemiological situation, Raiffeisenbank-until September 30.
• At the end of March, the VISA, MasterCard and Mir payment systems invited banks not to re -erace cards with an expired shelf life in order to avoid accumulation of people.
• Banks warned that the risk of fraudulent actions may increase on working cards with an expired period, because people are inattentive to protect such cards.
