If the rate of spread of coronavirus infection in Russia continues, hospital beds will run out in three to four weeks, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said at a meeting of the Coordination Council under the Russian government . His words are quoted on the website of the Moscow mayor's office.
According to Sobyanin, the total number of beds in Russian hospitals is 80 thousand. Not counting Moscow, 24.8 thousand beds are occupied.
In Moscow, 16 thousand hospital beds are available for coronavirus patients; by April 27, there will be 27 thousand beds.
But if the current rate of spread of the virus continues, 30 thousand beds may be needed in the near future. "In one day, today, we filled an additional 600 beds. 600 beds is the hospital in Kommunarka, figuratively speaking. And this rate is maintained," explained Sergei Sobyanin.
