The Office of the Investigative Committee for the Vologda Region refused to initiate a criminal case against the local police officer who shot a stray dog named Laura. This is reported on the department's website.
Animal rights activists insist that the police officer shot the dog with his service weapon and “kicked” it. According to activists, the bullet hit Laura in the head and passed along the base of her skull. She was taken to the veterinary clinic. The animal cannot stand up on its own, it only raises its head.
According to investigators, the policeman only defended himself from the attack and did not kick the animal that bit through his briefcase. In addition, the Investigative Committee emphasized that the dog had already shown aggression towards a local resident.
Eyewitness Alena K. said that Laura lived in the yard and “never showed aggression.” The policeman was drunk, the girl claims.
