Lack of personal protective equipment is a problem around the world. But they do not hide it there

One of the most frequent claims that Sergei Sobyanin is now presenting is that during the health care reform in Moscow, the number of beds was reduced.

This claim is insolvent and populist.

The fact is that a modern hospital is not a place where they lie on beds. As my friend, Michael Mirier, an American doctor of Russian descent, “a hospital is a place where highly professional medical services that cannot be provided at home.”

In the USA, for example, any bed for several seconds can be converted into a intensive care unit. There is everything with her - monitors, equipment and, of course, a nurse that puts the Sipap device or nasal cannula.

An old bed on iron legs with an iron mesh and a yellow sheet standing in the ward, where the lime is poured from the ceiling, is not a place of provision of highly professional medical services.

The reason for the huge bloated bed fund, which was not enough for nothing - neither nurses, no equipment, no attention, nor drugs - was financial. MHI (compulsory medical insurance) paid the hospital for the number of days that the patient spent in the hospital. Moreover, if he spent less than five days in the hospital, he was not paid at all.

Hence the iron beds with minimal care and negative benefits.

Sobyanin replaced this idiotic practice by another, reasonable: the hospital receives insurance money for the treated case, regardless of how many people in the hospital were: six days or six hours.

However, it was precisely as a result of the reform in Russian healthcare that a colossal problem has now formed when hospitals become infections, infecting both patients and doctors.

I mean, of course, a lack of PPE and cases of covid personnel . A textbook is already an example - this is the Bashkir hospital. Kuvatova, in which the administration after the start of the outbreak of bilateral pneumonia prohibited to take smears for coronavirus until the hospital became a completely monstrous nascenter of the infection. There were no protective funds in the hospital, pneumonia raged in it, and the hospital continued to recruit new patients (and release the old ones who were carried by the infection in the republic), motivating this by the fact that "the termination of admission will cost the hospital very expensive." All attempts to complain about the lack of PPE were suppressed.

When the doctors publicly announced this, the head of the Republic of Khabirov said that the republic “rich” and “scrap” forbade.

Similarly, events developed in the hospital of the Ezhvinsky district of Syktyvkar, the Yekaterinburg hospital No. 1, and in the Pokrovsky hospital in St. Petersburg. There, too, the doctors publicly complained about the lack of PPE, the head physician was loudly indignant and said that it was not true. The result is at least 32 cases of coronavirus, including among doctors.

Unfortunately, judging by the letters received by the "Alliance of Doctors", this picture is typical. Most authors of these letters asks to maintain anonymity. They fear repressions and at the same time they understand that with their actions they threaten the health of patients and loved ones.

“Catastrophically lacking PPE”, “From the moment the Covid-19 appeared, our leadership cannot equip the PPE with means of PPE!”, “There are no specialcubinesons even from resuscitators”, “There are no masks at all. Already 2 months ”,“ there are no disposable masks ”,“ there are no OV in the department - masks and respirators (not one !!!) ” - these letters go and go from Voronezh, from Reutov, from Tomsk, from Nizhny Novgorod, from the Leningrad region - from everywhere.

The reason that the authors ask to maintain anonymity? They are afraid of repression.

Note that the lack of PPE and hospital infection is now a problem around the world. British nurses go in bags of garbage, and in Italy the hospitals became foci of infection, hence the terrifying mortality. But they do not hide it there. “The ministers are in the Astral,” my familiar doctors write to me.

In the end, Russian doctors turned to the director of the FSB. They say that the competition was also announced among them - to find among the relatives and friends of the general who will inform him.

Perhaps, to combat the epidemic, there is no more urgent problem now. The five -star hotels, in which Moscow doctors now settle, lunches from Rappoport and Novikov help doctors. But they will not be able to save the situation if the problem of spreading infection in hospitals will be reicked.
