Will Mikhail Saakashvili will be Deputy Prime Minister for Reforms in Ukraine?

On April 22, the main news of Ukraine was not a summary of the coronavirus front, but the fact that President Vladimir Zelensky proposed to Mikhail Saakashvili the post of Deputy Prime Minister in the Government of Denis Shmygal. Saakashvili immediately wrote about this on Facebook. The presidential office confirmed the information - Zelensky met with Saakashvili, they discussed his proposals for possible assistance to the government, including in the international arena.

The former President of the Georgia, the former head of the Odessa Regional State Administration, the former friend and classmate of the fifth president Petro Poroshenko, who turned into his main internal enemy, who was deprived of the received Ukrainian citizenship and, after the pursuit of the roofs, which ended with power detention, expelled the country, returned to Kyiv immediately after the victory of Zelensky in the elections. In May 2019, by decree of the new president Mikhail Saakashvili, citizenship was returned. Against the usual, he avoided communicating with the press and to the questions whether to wait for returning to the first league of national policy now evasively: they say, he dreams of working for the benefit of Ukraine, his second homeland, and different election campaigns - no, this is the stage.

Not yet forgetting the explosive character of Miho, the journalists suggested: in the “ambush” he would not sit for long, he will certainly get involved in a fight - of course, the expression is figurative. Moreover, there were enough irritants. Petro Poroshenko headed one of the opposition factions in the Rada. The Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, also a long-standing anti-Saakashvili, not only remained a permanent member of the Cabinet of Ministers, but even strengthened his own position, claiming, according to rumors, to the role of a regent-link on key issues under the young ruler. But the forecasts did not come true. Mikhail Nikolaevich practically disappeared from the media field.

The sensational message was more sensational now. Observers rushed guesses:

Zelensky is burdened by an increase in Avakov’s share in all areas, wherever you throw, because Saakashvili is called upon to play the role of a counterweight, there is a purely hardware reception.

In social networks, opinions were divided. The part was ready to conclude a bet through what period of time the President Zelensky, about whom Saakashvili spoke extremely complimentary - “He is deeply versed in the situation!” - will turn to Mikhail Nikolayevich into absolute evil. In the commentary of the Internet publication “NV” (“New Time”), one of the main local experts on the Georgian theme of Bacho Korchilava called Saakashvili “a torpedo that could become a bomb”. Like, he is a very productive person, but will he be able to reveal his potential inside the system, where there are many representatives of the past political team? Will it become a hypothetical coming to the government by just a concussion of the foundations?

Then Mikhail Nikolaevich himself talked with the publication. The bottom line: “I'm going to work, and not conflict and be equivalent to everyone. Priority directions - negotiations with the IMF and deregulation. The priority should be the Ukrainian people. Now the country is governed by 5-6 people, the feudal oligarchic system operates. First of all, it is necessary to expand the middle class, the rapid development of the economy needs. Parliament should become an important driver in the implementation of reforms. ”

Soon, the deputy head of the parliamentary faction “Servant of the people” Evgeny Kravchuk told Media that on Friday, April 24, before the beginning of the extraordinary meeting of the Rada, deputies from monobolization will see a contender for the Deputy Prime Minister. For many of them, the “Saakashvili option” turned out to be unexpected, for others - unacceptable. Therefore, according to the evidence of sources, the faction agreed: to vote,

In the hall, the question will be brought only if Mikhail can convince at least 70 percent of the “servants” of his non -alternative.

It should be clarified: the posts of the Deputy Prime Minister on reforms still did not exist in the Ukrainian government. In the case of a positive outcome, Saakashvili became a deputy prime minister without a portfolio, that is, without a specialized ministry, which would have to work on local topics and programs.

The meeting with the Zelensky faction in the Parkovy cultural and exhibition center was, judging by the video, which was broadcast through the FB, the deputy head of the faction Maxim Tkachenko, emotionally. Saakashvili appeared in a beautiful mood, without a medical mask, photographed in an embrace with deputies (some of them also pulled masks from faces - they say, no one is afraid of anything!). The Georgian Ambassador to Ukraine Taymuraz Sharashenidze has already been commenting on Interfax-Ukraine for this hour: the official Tbilisi can regard the appointment of Mikhail Saakashvili Deputy Prime Minister as an unfriendly step-in Georgia he was put on an international wanted list and sentenced in absentia to six years of prison.

Mikhail Nikolaevich answered questions - not only about the vision of future reforms, but also about his political ambitions, promised to “not get on the rake” more, not to create conflicts within the authorities. Although he had no complaints against the “servants” and President Zelensky: “I am not going to go to any elections, no autumn ... ( *In the fall of 2020, the country is planned to elections to local authorities. - *O. M. ). And if I go, then with you! I have been looking for Ukrainian politics for many years - I have not seen such a cool team yet! ”

We are not children here - Misha wants premiere. ” Now the applicant for the Deputy Prime Minister will have to look for additional support from other fractions. Sources of Ukrainian Pravda believe: “If he convinces other factions, the vote on his candidacy may be next week, April 28–29.”
