In Vladikavkaz, a lawyer is not allowed to attend a court hearing with participants in a public meeting

In Vladikavkaz, lawyer of the human rights group “Agora” Sergei Denisenko was not allowed to attend a meeting of the Leninsky District Court with his clients, participants in the people’s gathering on April 20. This was reported by Yug. MBH Media" with reference to the lawyer.

The court refers to the fact that the trial is closed due to the “self-isolation” regime and that Denisenko’s clients, John Dzhioev and Magomed Kantemirov, did not apply for the participation of a lawyer in the trial, the defense lawyer said. The Agora representative explained that his clients do not know about his arrival for the meeting.

The court is considering an administrative case under the article on the organization of mass simultaneous stay and (or) movement of citizens in public places, resulting in a violation of public order (Article 20.2.2 of the Administrative Code).

• The courts of Vladikavkaz considered almost 50 administrative cases in the wake of the national gathering, awarding from 2 to 15 days of arrest or fines.
• On April 20, a public gathering against the self-isolation regime took place in the center of Vladikavkaz. About two thousand people took part in the action. The protesters were brutally dispersed by riot police, and as a result, 69 people were detained. The head of North Ossetia, Vyacheslav Bitarov, promised in a conversation with protesters to release all those detained.
• On April 21, civil activist and opera singer-baritone Vadim Cheldiev, who called on people to come to the gathering, was arrested for two months as part of a criminal case on the use of harmless violence against a government official (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code). He went on a hunger strike. Cheldiev was also fined 75 thousand rubles under the article on disseminating knowingly false information (Part 9 of Article 13.15 of the Administrative Code).
