In Yakutia, Gazprom workers staged a rally demanding a COVID-19 quarantine

In Yakutia, employees of contractors at the Chayandinskoye field, owned by Gazprom, went out to a spontaneous rally demanding a coronavirus quarantine. This was reported by Sibir.Realii and Interfax .

The workers complained that they were being held at the mine site, where they were forced to live in crowded dormitories. At the same time, shift workers are not given protective equipment and no one knows whether any of them are infected with coronavirus. In addition, according to the shift workers, they are poorly fed.

According to journalists, from several hundred to a thousand workers attended the rally.

The website 9111.ru published an open appeal from Gazartstroy construction workers (a subsidiary of Stroytransneftegaz) who are working at the Chayandinskoye field. The authors of the appeal note that “people, without knowing the results, do not understand whether they are being kept with the sick or not.”

The head of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolaev, said that as of April 28, tests for coronavirus were taken from 10.5 thousand people at the Chayandinskoye field; results are not yet available.

The press service of the regional government stated that the situation at the Chayandinskoye field is under control: mobile medical facilities have been deployed, personnel are being transported to the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, some are receiving treatment in hospitals in Lensk and Yakutsk.
