RBC: The Ton blockchain platform developed by Telegram will receive its own operating system

In the near future, in the Google Play and AppStore application stores, the Ton OS application will appear-the Ton blockchain platform operating system developed by the Telegram command. This was written by RBC with reference to a source close to the company.

As explained in the publication, Ton OS is not a full -fledged operating system. The application will be a superstructure for gadgets, which will provide support for applications on the blockchain. “Nobody bought the first PC either, because at best there were two programs at best. We are now about the moment when the first programs for computers appeared before the DOS operating systems,” said the interlocutor of the publication, specifying that the Ton OS was available for blockchain developers, and now the user interface appeared in it.

He added that at present the blockchain is perceived as the basis for tokens and cryptocurrency wallets. “But it’s like putting your photos on a computer, opening them on the screen and using PCs as electronic photo frames. In terms of functionality, we are now using blockchain,” the interlocutor of the publication said. According to him, there are already several applications under Ton OS, and in the future there will be many applications for the system to safely transmit different values, and not just cryptocurrencies.

Recall, about Telegram plans to launch your own Ton blockchain platform and GRAM cryptocurrency became known in early January 2018. Then it was reported that the new cryptocurrency will allow users to make payments both inside the messenger and beyond. Later, during the ICO, Telegram developers attracted $ 1.7 billion investments in the project. In October last year, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a lawsuit demanding to suspend the ICO Telegram and was able to achieve a temporary ban on the sale of GRAM cryptocurrency. The SEC reported that Ton developers sold GRAM tokens at reduced prices. The commission insisted that the company violated the law on securities from 1933, since it did not apply for the sale of cryptocurrencies as a deal with securities. Due to the lawsuit, investors agreed to postpone the deadline for the launch of the Ton blockchain platform on April 30, 2020, but the process in the case continues and is not formed in favor of Telegram, and the ban on the sale of GRAM is still valid and will not allow the project to launch.

The source of RBC noted that Ton OS was not mentioned in the Ton platform memorandum, and the Telegram team is not directly related to the creation of the operating system. Another interlocutor of the publication believes that it will be correct to integrate Ton OS in Telegram. He noted that the system can be used as a payment tool for different cryptocurrencies, and not just for GRAM.

Earlier on the network there were rumors that the ton platform validators (those who will confirm transactions on it) are going to launch the platform on their own if the Telegram leadership cannot do this due to litigation in the United States. According to rumors, the phased launch of the platform will begin in May, and a number of project participants signed an appropriate declaration at which, in particular, there is a clause that the US citizen signed it and does not own companies in the United States.
