
On May 1, the sixth, last online meeting of the project “in the area”, organized by the Street Art Research Institute, will be held. The meeting will be dedicated to Almetyevsk.

The Institute of Study of Street Art, together with Tatneft, has been implementing the program “Tales of Golden Apples” in Almetyevsk in Almetyevsk in Almetyevsk. One of the goals of the program is the preservation and representation of the cultural and historical heritage of Tatarstan. Invited artists plunge into a local context, and the stories of the region and its inhabitants become the main plot of their works.
The participants of the meeting on May 1 will talk about why it is important to understand the cultural code of the region and what research methods can be done, why artists choose certain plots as the national culture of an individual region can be told in modern language, thereby becoming part of global artistic processes.
The discussion will be attended by artists Pavel Ignatiev (Petersburg), Natalya Pastukhova Yekaterinburg), Dmitry Fatum (Kyiv), Artem Stefanov (Moscow) and Ilya Vysosov (Moscow), as well as experts - project manager, curator Polina Hedgehog, curator Anna Nistrutova, project expert, Nikita Petrov, expert of the program and teacher Amsterdam University Alfrid Bustanov and others.
The Street Art Institute launched the project “in the area” in April-every Friday is held virtual Bar Talks dedicated to street art.
The project continues two years ago a series of offline veins, held in real city bars. Bar meetings “in the district” have already held in several locations important for the Russian street scene - Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Novgorod, in Moscow, in Crimea, and in Perm.
