Fedor Katasonov: “Medical students are not ready to work with dangerous emerging infections”

“The conditionally voluntary coercion of medical students to work with COVID-19 is pure disgusting,” the pediatrician writes on his Facebook page.

“Previously, the scheme was simple: they implanted an introject about the doctor’s duty and honor, and then exploited this duty and shamed him with cowardice and dishonor. Now there are few idealists and romantics, so there are two options.

"1. It’s stupid to deceive by promising a lot of money (and I still have never heard of the promised additional payments for Covid reaching anyone, the promised free deliveries home turn into taxis to the metro, and then go on your own, the promised food is delivered, but to eat it, you need to take off and put on full clothes, and they give you 40 minutes for a break - well, you understand). I wonder if a person dies from Covid, will his additional payments reach his family or will they disappear into an unknown hole?

2. Using power, threatening academic debt. You understand, this is even worse.

Medical students are neither morally, professionally, nor financially prepared to work with dangerous emerging infections. This is the Hitler Youth, cannon fodder of children, not mobilization."
