Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has announced that he has tested positive for coronavirus, reports . TASS

“It just became known that the tests I took for the coronavirus came back positive,” he said during a video call with President Vladimir Putin. The fragment was broadcast by the Russia-24 TV channel.

Mishustin proposed appointing First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov as acting head of government. The President supported his candidacy and has already signed a corresponding decree.

The head of the Cabinet said that he would observe self-isolation and follow all the instructions of doctors in order to protect his colleagues. He also assured that the government will continue to work as usual. To do this, Mishustin promised to be in active contact by phone and video on all major issues.

Putin wished him a speedy recovery and noted that this could happen to anyone. The head of state added that final decisions on supporting citizens, the economy and affected industries would not be made without the opinion and participation of Mishustin. The Prime Minister, in turn, urged Russians to take the infection seriously, stay at home and comply with all current restrictions.

More than 106,000 cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in Russia. Over 11 thousand people have already recovered, the number of victims of infection in the country has reached 1073. COVID-19 was recorded in all 85 regions of the country.
