Pskov: The authorities changed the method of counting the dead from coronavirus

The Governor of the Pskov Region Mikhail Vedernikov at a meeting of the office of the coronavirus said that the region will change the methodology of counting people who died from the infection.

According to him, those whose death "was clearly caused by other causes will be excluded from statistics."

“Earlier, asymptomatic patients, in whom Covid was found after opening. But in fact, a person could die in an accident, but he had coronavirus, and he went to coronavirus statistics. It was incorrect. Those who died precisely because of the coronavirus or because of the complications caused,” he said.

Now adjusted statistics look like this: 8 people were killed from coronavirus, four of them are exclusively because of the infection, four more-for mixed reasons. Three people who were previously included in statistics died from strokes and heart attacks.

In total, on April 30, 172 cases of disease were registered in the Pskov region.

According to the World Health Organization, people with existing somatic diseases, for example, arterial hypertension, heart diseases or diabetes, the probability of severe course of the disease is higher.
