In the Kaliningrad region, 350 health workers refused to work during the coronavirus epidemic

About 100 doctors and 250 people in the Kaliningrad region refused to work during the coronavirus epidemic, said the head of the regional Ministry of Health Alexander Kravchenko.

“They said:“ Thank you until we work. ”They have our own reasons, we have no right to condemn them,” TASS agency quoted the official.

Although many doctors and nurses over 65 continued to work, the region faced a lack of medical personnel even before the spread of coronavirus.

He emphasized that doctors now make up the largest risk group, and advised not to visit medical institutions without serious necessity. The minister added that the management of medical institutions was not obliged to send to sick leave to health workers over 65 years old. Therefore, many doctors and nurses of this age category remained working.

He also added that in the region there are 93 health workers in the treatment of coronavirus.

According to the head of the Kaliningrad Ministry of Health, a total of more than 110 doctors infected coronavirus in the region. Of these, 20 people have already recovered and returned to work, one nurse died at the age of 65. She refused self -isolation to help colleagues.

The head of the public organization "League for the Protection of Doctors" Semen Halperin called not to condemn the Kaliningrad doctors who refused to work and suggested that the cause of the incident could be in the absence of the necessary working conditions.

According to experts, the largest clinical hospital in the Kaliningrad region will have 95-100 sick doctors (about 1.5 thousand people work there).

Local authorities have not yet planned to involve local authorities for the fight against coronavirus.
