The German government authorized the restart of the football championship from May 15

The organizers of the German football championship received a green light from the country's government to restart competitions interrupted due to coronavirus pandemia, subject to all safety conditions and without fans in the stands. According to Reuters with reference to two independent sources, football clubs will be allowed to resume the season from May 15.

It is expected that officially on this decision will be announced on Wednesday at a government online conference together with the Chancellor of Angela Merkel. In addition, as part of measures to exit the restrictions on coronavirus, all Germans, including non -professional and children, will be allowed to play in the open air.

Earlier it was reported that the Bundesliga may resume on May 9 , but the government postponed the decision.

The authorities put forward a number of conditions that the football league should adhere to. Viewers will not be allowed to the stadiums, and players and club staff are required to regularly undergo a medical examination.

Earlier, representatives of all clubs of the first and second divisions of the country were tested for coronavirus. Of the 1724 tests, a positive result was given 10.

The Bundesliga will become the first of the five leading European leagues to resume the football championship interrupted since mid-March due to the pandemic. Since mid -April, professional football teams of Germany have been training in strict conditions - in small groups with the tight control of virologists.

Earlier, Portugal, Poland and Hungary announced plans to reboot national football championships, but the restarts there were appointed at the end of May.

In Germany, more than 166 thousand cases of coronavirus infection were identified, 6.9 thousand died, and more than 132 thousand patients recovered. Thus, on May 4, a little more than 26 thousand infected remained in Germany.
