Igor Vinogradov, vice president of Irkut, has died

Irkut Corporation top manager Igor Vinogradov died after a short illness, according to the corporation's website. According to RBC's source in the company, on Saturday the top manager was hospitalized with pneumonia.

Vinogradov made a huge personal contribution to the certification of the SSJ-100 (Sukhoi Superjet 100) aircraft according to Russian and European standards. And in recent years, he has actively participated in the certification of the MS-21 aircraft, according to the Irkut website.

Irkut, which is part of the United Aircraft Corporation, is developing the MS-21 as a Russian competitor to the Boeing-737 Max. The largest operator of the MS-21 will be Aeroflot (85 out of 175 aircraft in the portfolio). Firm orders were also placed by Red Wings (16 cars), Iraero (10) and three large leasing companies.
