Russian scientists, teachers and cultural figures signed an open letter to the chairman of the Supreme Court of Karelia Anatoly Skvas with a request to release the historian Yuri Dmitriev from the pre -trial detention center, where cases of infection with coronaviral infection were revealed. The authors are sure that the charges against Yuri Dmitriev are unfair and must be removed during the trial, and he must wait for the court decision to be safe.

Under the letter, among other things, the writers were signed by Dmitry Bykov and Viktor Shenderovich, musicians Boris Grebenshchikov, Yuri Shevchuk and Julius Kim, filmmakers Alexander Sokurov, Andrei Zvginsev, political scientist Ekaterina Shulman, as well as the leader of the Yabloko party Grigory Yavlinsky.

According to the human rights center "Memorial", "Medical examination and psychological and psychiatric examination of the girl did not reveal any signs of violence in relation to her or psychological trauma."
