The Baltic countries agreed to open internal borders from May 15

Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia will open their internal borders from May 15. It will be possible to move freely between these countries, writes Meduza, citing a tweet by Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins.

The "safety bubble" regime for the three Baltic countries only applies to travel between them. After the opening of internal borders, visitors from other states will still be required to observe the self-isolation regime for two weeks.

• As of May 6, a total of 900 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in Latvia, 1,428 people in Lithuania, and 1,713 people in Estonia.
• The borders of these countries were closed in mid-March.
• On April 24, the Czech Republic became the first country in the European Union to lift restrictions.
