In Equatorial Guinea, pirates kidnapped three Russians by attacking two ships. This was reported by the Russian embassy in Cameroon.
The attacks took place on the night of May 9 on the Rio Mitong ship in the port of Malabo and on the Djibloho ship in the port of Luba, located 40 km from the capital of Equatorial Guinea.
“Pirates kidnapped one Russian [from Rio Mitong], two citizens of the Russian Federation were injured and are being treated at La Paz hospital. <...> The filibusters [also] attacked the Djibloho ship and abducted two Russians from the ship. So far, the pirates have not put forward any demands.
According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, a crew member with Ukrainian citizenship was also kidnapped from the Rio Mitong. The agency added that the ship, owned by the Belgian company SMART S&P SA, sailed under the flag of the Comoros.
