Sberbank agreed to service expired cards at the request of the Central Bank

Sberbank has extended the service of expired cards, reports . the bank’s press service

Customers with cards that expired in March will be able to withdraw and deposit money through ATMs and pay for purchases. All other operations will be unavailable. In addition, clients will be able to activate a new reissued card in the Sberbank application and pick it up within four months, so as not to go to the branch.

Earlier, Vedomosti, citing several sources, reported that Sberbank, contrary to the request of the Central Bank, refused to service expired cards. The Central Bank asked banks to allow customers to use expired cards due to the “difficult situation with the coronavirus pandemic and self-isolation.”
