Ministry of Education: graduates entering 2020 will take only two Unified State Exam subjects

School graduates this year will be able to pass only two USE subjects required for their chosen faculty, Deputy Minister of Education Dmitry Glushko announced on the air of Rossiya 24. Those who will not enter universities will be certified without mandatory exams in the Russian language and mathematics.

“Graduates of 11 grades <..> will need to choose exams for entering a university <..> These will be two exams that a school graduate needs to choose <...> based on which faculty and which university he enters,” said quote official ( TASS ).

The press service of the Ministry of Education and Science clarified that they are not considering reducing the number of USE subjects to two. According to the minister of education, graduates will be able to choose the number of subjects they need to enter universities.

The Ministry of Education and Science, in turn, allowed the USE to be held remotely this year. This will be possible only "provided that all students are provided with the necessary technical means," according to a letter from the deputy head of the department, Dmitry Afanasyev, which RIA Novosti has read.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, USE dates have been repeatedly postponed; On May 13, the Ministry of Education announced the postponement of the start of exams from June 8 to the second half of the month. The final dates will be announced in the coming days; exams will be held according to a single schedule for the whole country. Graduates decided to put marks in the certificate at the end of the year. Compulsory exams have also been canceled for ninth-graders.

In previous years, in order to receive a certificate, graduates had to score a minimum score in exams in the Russian language and mathematics, and they could also take an unlimited number of 13 elective subjects.
