In St. Petersburg in the offices of Lenenergo, searches were held in the case of theft during the construction of the Zenit Arena stadium. It is reported by 47news. Similar investigative actions took place in Moscow.

According to the publication, the searches are associated with the laying of two 110 kV cable lines from the Vasileostrovskaya substation to the Krestovskaya substation for the new stadium. The cost of work was estimated at 902 million rubles. The contractor was Lenenergo. According to investigators, the cable was purchased from the Moscow Estralin plant, but through a number of intermediary companies. As a result, about 70 million rubles disappeared.

This is not the first time the police conduct searches due to criminal cases that are initiated after the construction of the stadium on Krestovsky Island, the official construction cost of which exceeds 40 billion rubles.

Earlier, economic police, together with the FSB, conducted 25 searches in the fraud case. According to the investigation, the general contractor for the construction of a security system at the stadium - LLC "Group of Companies" Security " - purchased a detection system and blociators of radio speakers at high prices. Part of the money received from the budget could transfer to the settlement accounts of non -residents in Latvia.

The Investigative Committee also opened a criminal case of fraud in connection with the construction of the roof. Another proceedings are associated with fraud in the supply of a video tank to the stadium. The company "TMD" was supposed to buy a scoreboard in the arena for 50 million rubles. According to the investigation, the company withdrew funds through its structures. One of the suspects in the criminal case is the former vice-governor of St. Petersburg, Marat Oganesyan, who is accused of illegally attracting TMD to the construction of the stadium.

The stadium on Krestovsky Island in St. Petersburg began to be built in 2007. Officials promised to build an arena for 6.7 billion rubles by 2009. But the deadlines for the construction were shifted, and the price of the stadium grew. As a result, the stadium was allowed to put into operation at the end of December 2019.
