Report of the Galchonok Foundation for the first half of 2019

Since 2012, the Galchonok Charitable Foundation has been providing support to children with organic lesions of the central nervous system, in particular, orphans, children raised in low-income families, and the terminally ill. The Foundation also supports inclusive education projects in secondary schools, helps families of wards organize treatment and rehabilitation, and receive psychological and social assistance.

Thanks to your help, in the first half of the year we managed to collect 185,983 rubles , almost all of this amount, 184,231 rubles, are the monthly donations of 3,147 people.

One event was created on the volunteer fundraising platform “Taking This Opportunity” in support of “Galchonok”, thanks to which 64,100 rubles were collected. Inclusive education allows children who require special attention to study in regular schools with their peers, learn to communicate with them and be included in our society. Since September 1, 2013, the Foundation together with the ANO “Center for Autism Problems” at the Moscow State Budgetary Educational Institution “School No. 1465 named after Admiral N.G. Kuznetsova" is implementing an inclusive education project, within the framework of which it provides support to children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Since 2016, resource classes from three Moscow schools have also joined the project. Currently, 35 children are studying in the project.

One of the special conditions for training and raising such children in a general education organization is the accompaniment of a tutor, as well as the presence of a resource class and a sensory unloading zone. The program of accompanying schoolchildren with ASD with tutors confirms its effectiveness. Schoolchildren master an adapted school curriculum and socialize.

Since the beginning of the year, the Galchonok Foundation has paid for the work of tutors for 35 schoolchildren with ASD, and in the second quarter - accounting services for May and June.

School for everyone

Anya is nine years old and has ASD. Three years ago, the girl started attending school, but she behaved differently there than everyone else: she screamed loudly, pounded her chest with her fist, called names, and did not follow the daily routine. She completed all tasks slowly and was constantly distracted. In addition, she spoke poorly and was unable to complete multi-step tasks consisting of several steps or components.

During the year, Anya underwent training in the resource zone with tutor support. And by the end of the school year, she was already taking classes in physical education, art, technology, literary reading and the world around her. In addition, over the course of the year, the ward learned to maintain a daily routine, and her socialization and communication skills improved. And most importantly, Anya began to enjoy going to school, and she made friends.

The next year she successfully continued her studies. This year Anya will graduate from first grade. The fact is that children with autism spectrum disorder are recommended to study for 5-6 years at the primary level of school.

Now she is successfully mastering the programs at the grade level: the environment, fine arts, technology, music and physical education. Complies with the norms and rules of behavior at school with minimal support from a tutor. Participates in all class activities.

Over the three years of study, tremendous progress is visible in socialization and communication with peers and school teachers. The developed educational skills allowed Anya to begin studying cello at a music school.
