A veteran from St. Petersburg raised more than 3 million rubles to help the families of doctors who died from coronavirus

The veteran of the Great Patriotic War from St. Petersburg Zinaida Kornev raised 3 million 17 thousand rubles to help families of Russian doctors who died from Covid-19. The funds were raised in two weeks, according to the website of the All -Russian Public Organization of Veterans (Pensioners) of War and Labor.

“At first we planned to collect only 300 thousand rubles for families of doctors from St. Petersburg, but the money continued to arrive, and we began to send help to families from other cities. We receive such responses from relatives who cannot be read without tears. This help people really really need and important. It is terrible that from the beginning of the action, the number of doctors who died from the Covid-19 and health workers has doubled. Doctors continue to die, so the collection of funds continues, ”said Dmitry Panov, the husband of the great -granddaughter of Zinaida Korneva.

According to May 12, 37 families were distributed 1 million 110 thousand rubles - 30 thousand each family. Money continues to be distributed every day, but this is complicated by the lack of contacts and details of relatives of the dead doctors. Volunteers are engaged in their search. The names of the doctors are taken from the "Memory List" .

“Today in it [in the“ Memory List ”] there are already more than 150 medical workers who died in the war with the virus. Unfortunately, this list is increasing every day, and not enough funds collected to help everyone. Donations also continue to arrive, and we do not stop fundraising, ”the website of the public organization said.

The organization promised to publish a full report on the distribution of 3 million rubles within 10 days.

The 98-year-old Zinaida Kornev was inspired by the history of the British veteran of Tom Moore. He managed to collect 32 million pounds for doctors (2.9 billion rubles). April 30 Moore turned 100 years old.

“Such things” talked with Korneva and her relative, who helps her to collect in support of doctors.

“My daughter and granddaughter are doctors. I know their work. I have undergone a lot of operations, and I have many diseases due to age. I was connected with doctors who treated me perfectly. And I am so sorry for the doctors who can become infected and die while treating this disease [coronavirus], ”the veteran said.
