"Medusa" issued a large investigation dedicated to mortality from coronavirus in Russia . The publication with reference to demographers, pathologists and doctors reports that the country allegedly underestimates the number of dead patients. Earlier this was written by The New York Times and Financial Times, now their materials are checked by Roskomnadzor.
According to Medusa, experts drew attention to the fact that coronavirus mortality in Russia is much lower than in other countries. “You understand that we cannot have mortality six times lower than everyone else? We do not believe that in Russia some special genetic splendor? ” - told Medusa Demographer Daria Khalturina.
Demographer Alexei Raksha believes that statistics on mortality from coronavirus in Russia "need to multiply on average by three or four." He drew attention to some oddities in the calculation of dead patients, including in St. Petersburg.
-In St. Petersburg, three are very fond of the figure: on April 20, three people died from Covid, the 21st-three, the 22nd-three, the 23rd, the 24th-the three, the 25th-four. It was as if they gave an order on April 20 to die no more than three, although there are more than 20 people there per day dies with extra -acquired pneumonia, and 40 died on April 30. I look at the dials - there is no three day after day - it doesn’t happen! The probability of this is less than 1 %.
At the same time, as the Moscow authorities previously explained , in Russia the pathological autopsy of the dead with suspicion of Covid-19 is carried out in 100 % of cases, unlike many other countries, therefore, statistics are accurate. In WHO, inconsistions of mortality statistics from Covid in Russia were also not fixed .
In Russia, they indicate whether the patient died “from Covid-19” and “Covid-19”. Medusa writes that pathologists write down the victims of coronavirus in other categories because of the instructions of the Ministry of Health, as well as in connection with the wishes of the head physicians.
