The Rostov Regional Court rejected the appeal against the extension of house arrest against Ruslan Aliyev. He is accused of participation in an extremist organization (Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code) due to his membership in Jehovah's Witnesses. The Caucasian Knot writes about this.
Alyev’s defense filed a complaint against the decision of the Leninsky District Court dated April 29, 2020, according to which the supporter of Jehovah’s Witnesses was left under house arrest until June 5, 2020.
- On April 20, 2017, the Supreme Court recognized the “Administrative Center of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia” as an extremist organization, liquidated it and banned its activities in Russia. In August, all Jehovah's Witnesses organizations were added to the list of prohibited organizations. After this, a stream of criminal cases against representatives of the confession began.
