Aeroflot will receive 8 billion rubles to compensate for losses due to pandemia

Three companies of Aeroflot - Russian Airlines - Aeroflot, Russia and Aurora will receive almost 8 billion rubles of subsidies for partial compensation for losses due to the pandemic of coronavirus. This was reported on the website of the Federal Air Transport Agency.

The airline can spend this money on salaries to aircraft personnel (at least 60 percent of the total subsidy), leasing payments, aircraft parking and operational activities.

The Aeroflot group was the first to provide all the documentation necessary for obtaining subsidies. Now the department considers the documents from six more Russian companies: Smartavia, Ural Airlines, S7, Azur Air, Azimuth and Red Wings.

Air transportation is included by the government in the list of industries that are most affected by the Pandemia. On May 14, it allocated to them to compensate for losses of 23.4 billion rubles. Those carriers who did not stop the flights in April-May can count on support and reduced no more than 10 percent of pilots and flight attendants.

In late March, Russian airlines were forced to stop flying abroad due to pandemia and reduce the number of internal flights at times. According to the Federal Air Transport Agency, in April, air transportation decreased by 92 percent compared to the same period last year.
